  1. I don't mind Wembley. :) I've seen Muse and The Offspring there and both times had a pretty good time, especially Muse. Seeing Beasties there too soon, and I think it's generally a reasonable venue. Nowt great, but pretty good

No, I'm sorry but I know it's four months since the last post on this topic, but I must insist that Wembley Arena is shit.

  2. your prayers are being answered, going to be refurbed next year!

It needs to be, with more character. Although that will always be tough for a venue with such a wide variety of events held there.

I'll reserve judgement until I go there next (If I ever do, I fear the damage is done). I just don't get on with that place now. The thing is, if you see a band there and then go to Brixton Academy (for example) or Earls Court (not ideal, but a comparitively same-sized venue) then you don't want to go back to Wembley.

  3. and EC also has far, far, far better acoustics than Wembley Arena (you don't get that horrible constant echo for a start).

In all honesty, I'd say that EC does comapre fairly well to other venues of similar capacity. The problem is more that theres not too many bands who can carry a show in a large arena.

that's true. I think if a band is popular enough to fill Wembley then they're probably popular enough to go close to filling Earls Court too though. I do prefer EC by a long way. Much better just as a general venue too. More space both inside and outside the auditorium area and they make you feel more welcome. Wembley is the battery farm of London venues. F**king crap.

  4. I think it's about 18,000, and without doubt, the worst place to have gigs in..

Never been to Wembley Arena then, Tony? Shithole. Granted, Earls Court is too big for a decent atmosphere, but it has just a tiny bit more 'character' than Wembley. What a dump
