The venue is famous for its appearance on the inner sleeve of The Smiths' album 'The Queen Is Dead' back in 1986.
According to the BBC, the current owners need to raise £1million for essential maintenance to the listed building, for which Morrissey had originally intended to make a secret donation for. However, his public donation has been given in an attempt to boost the profile of the campaign.
The appeal has currently raised around £330,000 and continues to raise money in order to carry out work on the ceiling.
