ThisGIRL

Rock City, Nottingham on Sat 13th Sep 2003

Sometimes bands are memorable because they are just so bad, or because they are great. ThisGIRL luckily fall into the later category.

As soon as I saw the band members of ThisGIRL walking towards the stage, I thought that this was going to be just another set of guys just creating noise, which they would class as music. So as I sat down thinking that I am about to witness another dire performance.

ThisGIRL

Thankfully ThisGIRL actually have talent, the drummer (Ryan) is so wild and energetic on the drums that at times you felt exhausted just watching him play.

The band were just exploding with energy and bouncing around like there was no tomorrow. Their music is pure heavy rock, which made a change, as there are very few British bands that play hard rock, or rather play it well. The audience were mesmerised by Liam (singer) and within a couple of minutes everyone in the audience was dripping in sweat due to the amount of moshing and jumping around that had been taking place.

ThisGIRL's performance reminded me of Rage Against The Machine’s performance in the basement at Rock City. The amount of energy and passion that was coming off the stage at the RATM gig was exactly the same at Thisgirls gig.

If you are into hard rock then catch ThisGIRL soon, as this is the making of what looks like an impressive rock band.
