Kaiser Chiefs / Public Service Broadcasting

Brighton Centre, Brighton on Wed 11th Feb 2015

The venue tonight is the Brighton Centre. It always reminds me of a large school hall, abit an exciting glamorous one. This is always a favourite of mine due to the intimacy alone. But for now it is the home of the Kaiser Chiefs for the next couple of hours.

First up, it's the support act Public Service Broadcasting. Though different they go down very well with the crowd and you feel quite lucky to experience a band that graced the West Holts Stage at Glastonbury last summer. But the night truly belongs to the mighty Kaiser Chiefs.

They arrive tonight in a sea of smoke, none of the band are visible but the lead vocals belting out 'Factory Gate' are unmistakably Ricky Wilson's. What follows is a wonderful blend of the band's first five studio albums.I first saw the Kaiser Chiefs back in 2005 as part of the NME tour and again in 2007.

Even back then I was impressed by Wilson's stage presence, vocal ability and regulation crowd surfing. Not that I thought it was possible but since then and appearing as a judge on The Voice and supporting the Foo Fighters on tour across America his confidence has grown and the showman is even more competent and exciting. The band clearly loves every moment on stage and it shoes. Not a single minute is taken for granted.

Whilst the classics such as 'I Predict A Riot', 'Oh My God', and 'Every Day I Love You Less And Less' get the biggest responses of the night they is still love for the newer material. There is also a sixth studio album on the way. There is also a nice group dynamic on stage, even with VJ the latest drummer and newest member of the Chiefs slotting in nicely.

The Kaiser Chiefs are here to stay and future looks exciting for these Glastonbury regulars.
