Sum 41 pull out of co-headline Kerrang! Tour

instead The Blackout join New Found Glory

news: Friday 20th January 2012

The Blackout have stepped in to replace Sum 41 as co-headliners alongside New Found Glory for next month's Kerrang! Tour sponsored by Relentless Energy Drink.

The 10 night tour of major cities will see Los Angeles quintet Letlive, and Sheffield post-hardcore five-piece While She Sleeps supporting the co-headliners.

Sum 41 have been forced to pull out because frontman Deryck Whibley has been suffering from a recurring back injury and will not be well enough to perform.

"I feel really terrible about letting down the fans," says Deryck. "I injured my back about eight months ago and the doctors are saying that I could be in a wheelchair. So, as much as I wanted to be able to do it, I've got to look at reality, and for the first time I've got to listen to somebody else and not just myself. We're all really upset about this; we've had such a great relationship with our UK fans. We were really looking forward to this tour."

The Blackout offered to step up to the plate and co-vocalist Sean Smith added, " We're delighted to step in for Sum 41 at the last minute! We've played the tour once before [in 2010] and we know what a total laugh it is. But hopefully Sum 41 fans won't try and murder us! This should be a really, really great tour and we're all really excited to watch the other bands every night."

The tour dates are as follows:

Tue 07 February Southampton Guildhall, Southampton
Wed 08 February UEA (University of East Anglia), Norwich
Fri 10 February O2 Academy, Bristol
Sat 11 February Cardiff University Great Hall, Cardiff
Sun 12 February O2 Academy, Newcastle upon Tyne
Mon 13 February O2 ABC, Glasgow
Wed 15 February Manchester Academy, Manchester
Thu 16 February O2 Academy, Birmingham
Fri 17 February Roundhouse, London
