The Vaselines on tour to support new album and single

Glasgow's The Vaselines have announced UK tour dates in support of their second album in 20 years.

Formed in 1987, The Vaselines released two singles and one album, 'Dum Dum' before splitting up in 1989 (in the same week their album was released). They might have faded into obscurity but for the intervention of Nirvana who covered three of their songs.

Founding members Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee remained musically active throughout the intervening years: the former with Captain America aka Eugenius and finally as a solo artist; McKee with Painkillers and Suckle.

Eugene and Frances collaborated intermittently in the intervening years. They toured jointly and played a few of the old songs together in the wake of their respective solo project releases in 2006. But an unannounced appearance at a fundraiser in Glasgow Mono for Malawi Orphan Support in 2008 saw them make a proper return to the music scene.

The Scottish post-rockers next single 'Mouth To Mouth', from their new album 'Sex With An X', is released on Valentines Day 2011. speaking of the single Eugene explains, "It's about someone who needs medical attention and maybe some mental and physical attention...some TLC and a bit of kissing also..."

The Vaselines had a busy 2010 with sold out UK shows in September, followed by a month-long tour of North America joined by super-fans Dum Dum Girls, as well as gigs in Mexico with Belle & Sebastian.

The Vaselines are back on the road for the following UK shows early next year with support on all shows from jagged rock minimalists Schwervon!:
