news: Thursday 21st October 2010

Audioscope, the organisation committed to raising money through music for Shelter, has announced the line-up for this year's charity shows.

The organisation celebrates a decade of raising funds for Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity, this November with three shows on Saturday 6th, Wednesday 10th and Saturday 20th November, including the first Oxford performance for 25 years by art-punk legends The Wire.

The Audioscope shows will bring together bands from Oxford and across the UK to the intimate confines of the Jericho Tavern. This year's first show is a 'best of' celebration, presenting artists who have previously performed at Audioscope shows from 2001 to 2009, who are returning to give their support to the festival once again.

The best of show features a line-up including Dieter Moebius, Billy Mahonie, The Oscillation, The Half Rabbits, Nought, Qaa, The Rock of Travolta, Rome Pays Off, Mephisto Grande, and Sunnyvale Noise Sub-element, tickets are priced at £10.

Tickets for the Wednesday show is priced at £15 ans sees Wire perform their first show in the city since 1985, with support from Teeth of the Sea, and Einstellung.

The final show brings Audioscope 2010 to a close, with the usual eclectic day of the best leftfield and alternative music from Oxford and across the UK with a line-up of SJ Esau, Sennen, Mugstar, Ice, Sea, Dead People, Epic45, The Winchell Riots, Felix, Laura Moody, Kontakte, and Phantom Theory.

Since 2001, Audioscopehas raised over £20,000 for Shelter, presenting the best in local, national and international independent music in the process.

Audisocope co-organiser Stuart Fowkes said, "It's hard to believe that Audioscope has been going for ten years now, but we're enormously proud of what we've achieved, and grateful to everyone who's given their time to come and support what we do.

"At the same time as bringing some of what we consider to be the finest music in the world to Oxford, we've raised £20,000 to support Shelter's vital work. We've been planning this tenth anniversary special all year, and we're sure it's going to be the best possible way to celebrate a decade of using music to tackle homelessness."

Louise Parkes, Director of Fundraising at Shelter, said, "We are extremely grateful to the Audioscope team for raising so much money for Shelter over the years. Thanks to their generosity and support, we have been able to make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of homeless and badly housed people across the country."

Tickets for all three shows are available now, or on the door on each day. There is a very limited number of 'super tickets' available for £30, which offer entry to all three shows for a reduced price. All proceeds from every Audioscope show go directly to Shelter. To buy tickets, click here.
