Levellers announce Levelling The Land live tour

tickets will go on sale this Friday

news: Monday 18th October 2010

Festival veterans Levellers have announced a special UK Tour hitting Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle Southampton, Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester and London.

One of the band's most popular albums 'Levelling The Land' will be twenty years old next year, and to celebrate the band will be taking it on the road for the 20th Anniversary Tour in March 2011.

During the summer of 1991 Levelling The Land redefined the UK's musical landscape. Counter-culture became culture, the disenfranchised found a voice, and not a single pub, club, students' union, campfire or festival anywhere in Europe failed to reverberate with the refrains of this iconic album. Levellers provided the soundtrack for a society fed up with the twin evils of Thatcherite politics, and the post-80's, pre-grunge musical wasteland.

The era-defining album performed in its entirety for the very first time, followed by an extended encore of live favourites from the Levellers extensive back catalogue.

Early favourites like 'One Way', 'Far From Home' and '15 Years' will get an airing alongside 'The Game', 'Liberty Song', 'Sell Out', 'Another Man's Cause', 'Riverflow', 'Boatman', and the incendiary 'Battle Of The Beanfield'.

Throughout the tour of Levellers present 'Levelling The Land Live' the Levellers will be joined by special guests on all dates by The Wonder Stuff.

Their tour dates are as follows:

Wed 09 March O2 Academy, Bristol
Thu 10 March O2 Academy, Leeds
Fri 11 March Barrowland, Glasgow
Sat 12 March Rock City, Nottingham
Sun 13 March O2 Academy, Newcastle upon Tyne

Wed 16 March University of East Anglia (U.E.A.), Norwich
Thu 17 March O2 Academy, Birmingham
Fri 18 March Academy (Manchester University), Manchester
