The Teenage Cancer Trust Gigs headliners announced

Noel Gallagher, Them Crooked Vultures, Arctic Monkeys, The Specials, The Who and JLS

news: Monday 1st February 2010

Noel Gallagher, Them Crooked Vultures, Arctic Monkeys, The Specials, The Who, and JLS have been confirmed as the first acts to be performing at The Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust this February and March. Each year the concerts sell out in record time and raise vital funds for the charity.

Now in its 10th year, The Teenage Cancer Trust Gigs have already confirmed Suede and Depeche Mode at the charity series.

Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher will play a two night residency in what will be his only shows of 2010. It will be the fifth time Gallagher has performed at the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs.

The TCT gigs were the brainchild of The Who's Roger Daltrey CBE, patron and curator of Teenage Cancer Trust, who has once again persuaded the best of British talent available across the rock, and pop to give up their time to raise money for this unique charity. He said of the shows, "Teenage Cancer Trust has come such a long way since our first gig and I'm extremely proud of this event. I'm forever inspired by the support I have received from the artists and members of the music and comedy industries. This year has been no exception and it's thanks to them that our 10th anniversary shows are set to break all records for Teenage Cancer Trust."

Daltrey was also asked by a tabloid newspaper whether JLS are too commercial for the TCT gigs, he replied: "Kids have to start somewhere and JLS are for young people. Music snobs might turn their noses up but there's no place for them in the business."

The week continues with a comedy night on Tuesday 23 March, featuring Jimmy Carr, Rhod Gilbert and Noel Fielding. Wednesday 24 March sees the return of brit-pop legends Suede, reforming for one night only for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Who will wrap up the 10-night spectacular in style on Tuesday 30 with a performance of 'Quadrophenia'. Roger Daltrey added, "When The Who first got together in 2000 to raise money for this brilliant charity, I had no idea we'd achieve so much from these shows. In the last ten years we've raised over £8.7 million, helping Teenage Cancer Trust to open nine more specialist cancer units for young people across the UK."
