Vampire Weekend play free London show tomorrow

news: Wednesday 13th January 2010

New Yorkers Vampire Weekend have announced a last minute show in London tomorrow to promote their new album 'Contra'. The gig will take place outdoors at the Somerset House ice rink in central London.

The indie rockers perform for free in the venue's courtyard at 5.30pm. Tickets are unavailable for purchase in advance, with fans encouraged to turn up on a first-come-first-served basis, with the added incentive of free ice-skating for the first 50 through the doors.

The show comes a day before their album launch party at North London club Visions Video Bar, with the band also playing in-store at Brick Lane's Rough Trade East on the same day.

Vampire Weekend also return in February for a sold-out UK tour before returning for spring dates in America. They are also confirmed for an appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival in June.
