American punks Green Day have announced a tour of the UK in October to go alongside news of the release of their eighth studio album '21st Century Breakdown' which will be released worldwide by Reprise Records on Friday, 15th May.

Green Day have also confirmed their first full UK tour since the start of 2005. This tour also represents their first headline dates in this country since their two night stand at Milton Keynes National Bowl that same summer:

Their tour dates are:
Fri 23 October O2 Arena, London
Sat 24 October O2 Arena, London
Mon 26 October Sheffield Arena, Sheffield
Tue 27 October LG Arena, Birmingham

The album is the trio's first since the phenomenally successful 'American Idiot' album that sold over 12 million copies. The band commenced work on the new LP early in 2006 and subsequently enlisted the expertise of producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins). The album is divided into three acts – 'Heroes and Cons', 'Charlatans and Saints' and 'Horseshoes and Handgrenades' – and follows a young couple, Christian and Gloria, through the mess and promise of the century so far. The album's single, 'Know Your Enemy', is out now.

Tickets are limited to two per applicant and are priced at £37.50 for London and £35 for all regional dates. Tickets go on sale from 10am, this Friday 1st May and eGigs will have links to buy them then.
