Yeah Yeah Yeahs announce UK live shows

three dates, tickets on sale on Friday

news: Wednesday 25th February 2009

New York three-piece Yeah Yeah Yeahs today announce their live return to the UK with three dates in April.

The band fronted by Karen O are poised to release the follow-up to the 2006 album 'Show Your Bones' called 'It's Blitz!' on Monday 13th April preceded a week prior by single 'Zero'. Sepaking of the new track Karen O commented, "We've got a death grip on the adolescent way of feeling things."

'It's Blitz' signals both a glance backward and a step forward for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs who have added synths to their sound on the album. Guitarist Nick Zinner had brought along an old keyboard he bought on eBay to work with during the writing session not expecting it to end up on the album. However, the sounds of the vintage Arp were so right for the new songs that they found their way into tracks 'Skeletons', 'Heads Will Roll', and 'Soft Shock'. Zinner says, "Obviously, synths have been in rock music forever. But to us it feels new, which is all we really care about—that excitement."

Their tour dates are:
Wed 22 April Manchester University (Academy), Manchester
Sat 25 April Shepherds Bush Empire, London
Sun 26 April Shepherds Bush Empire, London

Tickets go on sale this Friday (27th February) at 9am priced at £16.50 for Manchester, and £18.50 for the other two dates. eGigs will have links for you to buy tickets on Friday.
