news: Wednesday 21st January 2009

Reggae legends and former Bob Marley backup band The Wailers will perform the classic album 'Exodus' at three special gigs in the UK this April.

Reggae fans can look forward to an uplifting finale with 'Turn Your Lights Down Low', 'Three Little Birds' and 'One Love/People Get Ready' bringing the classic 1977 album, to a close.

Together with Bob Marley, the Wailers have sold in excess of 250 million albums worldwide. In England alone, they’ve notched up over twenty chart hits, including seven Top 10 entries.

The three dates are as follows:
Sun 19 April O2 Academy, Bristol
Mon 20 April O2 Academy, Oxford
Wed 22 April O2 Academy, Birmingham

As the living exponents of Jamaica's reggae tradition, The Wailers, with Elan Atias having taken vocal duties since 1997, will bring 'One Love' and heartfelt protest in 'Redemption Song' to a live audience.

The band is anchored by longtime Wailers member Aston 'Family Man' Barrett on bass, a solid horn section and unbreakable reggae rhythm, Atias will take what is sure to be a lively audience through the 10 songs on 'Exodus' to a 'Get Up Stand Up' finale with an unstoppable energy.

The album of songs which have been around for more than 30 years runs just a little longer than 35 minutes. Live however The Wailers have worked in a handful of killer horn solos and plenty of audience-wide hand clapping, and there's bound to be a few treats thrown in too.

Tickets for these shows are priced at £17.50, and to buy tickets, click here.
