students Dance4Life this Saturday at London's Ministry of Sound

raising awareness for the battle against HIV and AIDS

news: Wednesday 26th November 2008

This Saturday, 29th November, more than 50,000 schools and college students around the world will dance together via global satellite to raise awareness for the battle against HIV and AIDS, with Dance4Life.

The UK's Dance4Life Event will be held in London's Ministry of Sound where students can enjoy an impressive line up of DJs, Nike dance athletes, spoken word artists, and of course bands.

The London event is one of 22 satellite-linked events happening simultaneously across Africa, North and South America and Europe. The global event will be a powerful statement to demand the attention of world leaders and their commitment to the 'UN Millennium Development Goals', and at the same time will highlight the vital role that young people can play in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The line-up, who have all donated their performances to Dance4Life for free, includes Alex Gaudino, Darude, The Loose Cannons, Kutski, Neev, Nasha Experience, and spoken word and hip-hop from Metis.

The event is free of charge to all students who have been visited by the Dance 4 Life School Tour, which has been visiting schools and colleges throughout November 2008. The Dance4Life Tour has been introducing students to the realities of HIV by means of a fully interactive 2-hour workshop including speakers living with HIV from Zambia, Uganda and USA. All students on the Tour learn the Dance4Life 'drill' - a simple yet effective dance routine replicated all over the world to unite young people, regardless of background or HIV status.

Over 60% of new infections are amongst young people aged 15-24 and Dance4Life offers this group of people the opportunity to speak out against the spread of the virus in a positive way.
