Coldplay announce stadium tour next September

Chris Martin lead singer of Coldplay telephoned BBC Radio 1 this morning to announce that Coldplay will be playing a string of stadium shows in September 2009.

The singer confirmed the band, who embark on their sold out UK tour this month, will also have a very special guest for the shows, which will take place in Manchester, Glasgow and London the hip hop star Jay-Z.

The band whose hits include 'Yellow', The Scientist', 'Speed of Sound', 'Fix You', 'Viva la Vida', and the 'Clocks' will play Manchester's Lancashire County Cricket Club on Saturday 12th September, Glasgow's Hampden Park on Wednesday 16th September and London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday 19th September.

Today Coldplay also release 'Viva La Vida - Prospekt's March Edition', a two disc set containing eight previously unreleased tracks.

Tickets for the September dates, priced between £45 and £65 depending on the show, will be available on eGigs from 9:30am this Friday 28th November.
