U2 are to announce tour dates in the new year

having signed a 10 million tour deal

news: Wednesday 22nd October 2008

Irish band U2 are set to announce an extensive tour of big venues across the UK when they take their new tour on the road early next year.

Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen whose last album was 2004's 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb' have been putting together new tracks and are due to release a new album, possibly entitled, 'No Line On The Horizon in 2009.

The band have apparently been given a £10 million advance in a massive new tour deal which they have signed with concert promoters Live Nation, for the next 12 years.

The band will share the concert revenue with Live Nation and it is is estimated they could make over £500 million from live shows over the 12 year period.

The new contract will see them continue to record with Mercury Records but tour with Live Nation.

There's going to be a lot of big tours taking place next year with Oasis, AC/DC, Metallica, Coldplay, and now U2 all all staging gigantic outdoor gigs. Will they all be successful with the credit crunch setting in?
