The Pogues announce sixth annual Christmas tour

nine dates, tickets on sale tomorrow

Shane MacGowan's Irish punk/folk heroes The Pogues have announced their their traditional festive jaunt to take place in December this year.

Sixth Annual Christmas Tour will feature a line-up of MacGowan, Spider Stacy, Jem Finer, Philip Chevron, Terry Woods, Andrew Ranken, James Fearnley and Darryl Hunt, who were all in the band from 1987-1993.

The Pogues formed in 1982 as 'Pogue Mahone' (which is Gaelic for "kiss my arse") and their biggest success was Christmas single 'Fairytale Of New York' with the late Kirsty McColl, which reached number two in 1987.

The band who have had a string of festival dates this summer will take to the road from Sunday 7th December where they start in Glasgow, visiting Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London, with two dates at the Brixton Academy.
