Led Zeppelin perform their first gig in 19 years

news: Tuesday 11th December 2007

Last night legendary British group Led Zeppelin played their first concert in 19 years.

They played to a packed out crowd of 20,000 at London's 02 arena, with a set lasting roughly two hours and filled with hits like 'Black Dog', 'Kashmir', 'Whole Lotta Love', 'Misty Mountain Hop', and of course 'Stairway To Heaven'.

The band featured three of the original members (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones) and were joined by the late John Bonham's son Jason on drums.

Over one million people had tried to get tickets for this show, which was decided via a ballot.

Despite measures to prevent touting tickets for the show were going on eBay for up to £1,800 each. One pair of tickets were auctioned off for Children In Need for a staggering £83,000.

Support at the gig came from Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini.

The concert was held in honour of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records, who died in December last year.
