will Wembley Stadium ever be ready....?

news: Tuesday 20th February 2007

More delays have hit the new Wembley Stadium.

The venue is due to host it's first concert on June 16th when it will be christened by Muse (with rumoured support from Klaxons).

Wembley is also supposed to be the location of this year's FA Cup final (19th May), and officials are saying that the match will still take place at the new stadium, even though there have been delays to a planned warm-up event.

A safety requirement permitted the stadium to stage a special community day (which was set for March 3rd), where up to 60,000 people from Wembley's surrounding borough of Brent would be able to look at the venue.

The day has now been put back to the 17th March, but Wembley chief Alex Horne remains optimistic, telling the BBC that "Ramp-up events have always had to remain flexible in terms of a date because of the complex nature of the project, hence the change."
