Ozzfest becomes free

news: Wednesday 7th February 2007

As hard as it is to come by, eGigs loves free stuff, and we're realy excited with the news that this year's Ozzfest won't cost you a penny.

Co founders Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon announced in a press conference yesterday (Tuesday 6th February) that they have made the decision to open up Ozzfest's gates for free.

Sharon commented "Everybody has been so good to us over the years, and year after year ticket prices get higher and higher and higher"

"And we just thought we can't keep on raising ticket prices because there is not that much money out there anymore. Hey, kids can go online and download music, why not go to a show for free too? What the heck? Ozzy's got a new record coming out this year, he'll be touring the whole year. There is plenty of time to make money."

The only act confirmed so far is Ozzy himself, but the rest of the line-up will be announced int he weeks to come. None of the bands will get paid, but they will take a cut from merchandise sales, while the event itself will be funded primarily through a sponsership deal with Jägermeister.

Tickets can be obtained by visiting the offical Ozzfest site.
