the new bad boys of err....indie?

The View banned from hotels

news: Monday 22nd January 2007

It was always on the cards. Dundee four piece The View have now been banned from an entire hotel chain after causing thousands of damage.

The View are looking likely to be one of the year's most potential groups, but hotel chain Travelodge have decided to ban them from staying at any of their branches after they damaged several rooms at a Travelodge in Liverpool.

The damage was eventually estimated at around £7,000, and a bill was presented to their manager. A letter was also sent a letter to the band's management this week advising them the musicians were banned from all of its 300 UK hotels.

A spokesman for Travelodge commented: "The View are banned from every Travelodge in the country. We don't care who they are, they acted offensively and were anti-social to other residents. They are not welcome back.

"This rock and roll behaviour is not acceptable. People come to us for a good night's sleep and we have to be mindful of that.
"

A report from The Daily Record mentioned that hotel staff had to break into the band's room to turn off taps and stop a ceiling from caving in from flooding.

So are The View the new bad boys of indie? They better not be planning any late night shenanigans in Islington or they can expect a first class letter in the post from Bobby Gillespie.
