ActionAid launches B*ll*cks to Poverty tour

your chance to make a difference

news: Monday 16th October 2006

The international charity ActionAid is calling on bands, DJs, comedians and anyone who is putting on a show to donate a night to the Bollocks to Poverty Campaign. The aim is to get music fans up and down the country to keep the fight against poverty alive and say b*ll*cks to politicians’ excuses, unfair trade, HIV and Aids and corporate abuse.

B*ll*cks to Poverty on Tour has been set up to help promote the cause through the use of live music events. It is a chance for someone who has never put on an event to have a go, and for a more experienced promoter or DJ to make a difference while having a great time. In return ActionAid will provide posters, giveaways, flyers and the help they need to put on a great event.

Each event will be added to the B*ll*cks To Poverty Tour dates and will have its own page on the Bollocks to Poverty On Tour website, with space for photos, reviews from friends and punters and video clips. For more information visit www.btpontour.org.

Brendan O’Donnell, ActionAid youth campaigns manager, said: "Music and protest thrive on the DIY spirit. Festivals like Glastonbury started up because people wanted to make music and make a statement at the same time. ActionAid is calling on every DJ putting on a club night, band putting on a gig and artist putting on a show to donate a night to the B*ll*cks to Poverty tour."
