The Features

Rock City, Nottingham on Tue 21st Dec 2004

Admittedly before going to this gig I knew absolutely nothing about this band called The Features except that they were good enough to play at the Carling Weekend Festival last year and the fact that they managed to secure the much coveted support slot with Kings Of Leon. To be honest there are only a handful of support acts that can impress me, and thankfully this is one of those bands.

Hailing from Tennessee USA, these down-to-earth-gentleman took to the stage and immediately impressed the assembled sold out crowd which were waiting for Kings Of Leon. Fronted by Matt Pelham- who at times sounded very similar to Brian Molko from Placebo.

The Features play some mighty fine pop/rock songs, which went down better than Divine Brown on Hugh Grant!!! If you imagine the melodic mastery of Ash and the sublime rock music of Placebo blended together then this is quite possibly the sound you would have created.

The Features

'Leave It All Behind' and 'A Million Ways To Sing The Blues' were well received by the crowd and if this is just a small taster of what their forthcoming album 'Exhibit A' will be like then I for one will be rushing out to buy it.

The Features are one of those bands that come, do what they have to do, and leave, no gimmicks, just pure melodic rock. Best of all this is one of those bands that have not been over-hyped. The Features look set to have an impressive year next year and I for one will certainly be looking forward to catching them live again.
