XisLoaded

Rock City, Nottingham on Sat 13th Nov 2004

It is very rare for an up and coming band to make any kind of impression on me usually - due to the fact that the audience is usually so small which in turn kills any sort of atmosphere and also the fact that you don't know any of the bands songs make it difficult to enjoy the gig.

XisLoaded are the exception to the rule- they must be good if I am willing to roam around Nottingham in sub zero temperatures on a cold November night just to catch them play live.

Once inside the venue, my body soon thawed out from being exposed to the cold temperature outside. So as the last icicle fell of my nose onto the arena floor- the band members of XisLoaded took their positions on stage.

They were given a Luke-warm reception due to the lack of people in the room- however the handful of people that had braved the arctic climate to be here were treated to a fantastic night of music.

With only one album under their belt they were quite limited for songs to play, don't get me wrong- the songs that were played were superb, just that it took away any element of surprise because they don't have a back catalogue as such.

Jake (vocalist) has had an image transformation since the last time eGigs caught up with them when they supported InMe earlier in the year- He has had all of his long hair cut really short and grown a beard which took some time to get used to. However one thing remained the same- his stage attire which even today still consists of his FBI T-shirt.

However this new image seems to have brought about a boost of confidence into his stage persona, which can only be described as magnetic now! The entire audience were transfixed with the charisma of Jake.

The other band members- Jamie (Drums), Martino (Guitar), and Al (bass) spent the entire set putting 110 percent into kicking out their brand of rock music. Songs like 'Thirteen Days' and 'Laugh, Point & Wave' all got a good response from the crowd.

Their forthcoming single 'Racketeer' was impressive opening with a supersonic guitar melody before crashing into a crescendo of thunderous drums and good old-fashioned rock vocals!!

XisLoaded are one of the few up and coming bands that have that so called 'X-factor', they write incredible rock songs and are able to pull it off live as well. It will only be a matter of time before they move onto bigger and better things!!!
