Republic of Loose

The Cabaret, Nottingham on Tue 26th Oct 2004

Hailing from Dublin Republic of Loose are a five piece band with a sound that is like no other band. The band themselves describe their music as being heavily influenced by Rick James, The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson.

After catching them playing to a packed out tent at Fleadh, it was a stunning shock to see them playing to such a small crowd in Notitngham- The Old Vic or Cabaret as it is now known, is a quaint venue and you are guaranteed a good view wherever you stand or sit.

Due to very little publicity about this gig, there were not that many punters at the Cabaret. However Republic of Loose did not let that stop them putting an hundred percent into their performance.

Their on stage chemistry is tighter than a ducks arse, and the songs are delivered with more punch than a right hook from Lennox Lewis. The band members on stage personas are quite impressive and just watching them is entertaining enough without their superb music.

Current single 'Hold Up' got a big roar of approval from the crowd- the line 'I haven't got time for all of this wine' was rather ironic because judging by the state of the lead singer- he clearly had plenty of time for all of his wine- he looked like he was quite tipsy.

Without a doubt Republic of Loose are one of the best up and coming bands- keep an eye out for these in 2005.
