  1. Wow this thread had a lot of views!! Even if just a handful went on to have the kindness to click, just wanted to say THANK YOU!! X I made the Top 50 out of almost 1480 entrants! Now it's down to the judges... Yasmin x x
  2. It's July 5th, the contest has had about 1490 entries and I am number 50 but hanging in by the skin of my nails!! PLEASE :) Can you just click on the link and view my little account about my best travel tip? http://www.travelzoo.com/uk/savvytraveller...le/?id=14421056 If you already have, then Thank YOU!! x x You are very Yasmin x x
  3. I just wanted to say to those of you who viewed my post and clicked on the link THANK YOU!!! I really appreciate it, to the others who might have been sceptical, I do understand. But if you check out Travel Zoo you'll see it's a bona fide, very popular site with millions of users that specialises in tracking down the best bargains for holidays and flights at short notice. *Please* do click on this link: http://www.travelzoo.com/uk/savvytraveller...le/?id=14421056 The contest ends on July 9th and I am kind off in the middle of the Top 50 at the moment, and a few votes either way will be all it takes I suspect come that date. There are people out there who will no doubt get hundreds if not thousands of votes more than me, but if on that date I'm 49th or 50th I will be happy I would just like to be a contender Thank you again and have a good week Yasmin x x
  4. Did anyone go to this? Has anyone seen the film? I hear it's out on DVD in August with a live album. I love, love Mogwai : )
  5. I can totally see why BSP are in your list. I saw them play at the End of the Road festival in 2006 and the last 15mins was just chaos and leaves and dancers and music, mental but awesome at the same time. Never seen a band like them in that respect.
  6. I recently heard Esben and the Witch for the first time and was blown away by a track called Skeleton Swoon on Spotify. I looked them up live on You Tube and they can cut it live too. I would love to see them play... Last year I fell in love with The XX and they're doing really, really well. They deserve to go stellar though I am curious as to what their new material will be like as their debut was written in their teens.
  7. Lol for me it was Moby back in 1996 or 1997? I was desperately excited about this gig after his ambient loveliness of Everthing is Wrong and the gig was THRASH METAL!! It was during his doomed Animal Rights album release. I think that was what the album was called. I could have cried. The supports all sucked too. I was gutted. My friends who came along out of curiousity and liked a bit of metal enjoyed that gig far more than I did, and still bring it up to rib me.. x
  8. God a real Sophie's Choice moment! Mine would have to be: Hole - Brixton Academy - I think it was 1999 when they were touring Celebrity Skin. My feet didn't touch the ground going home. They just blew me away. Best gig ever!! Depeche Mode - Wembley Arena - I waited a LONG time for that gig, they were the first band to play at the new venue. They were far better here than they were at the O2. The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Meltdown at Southbank - 2006? Never seen or heard of them before, just captivating : ) I was sat next to fans who'd flown in from Germany and France specially and were desperately excited and told me what all the songs were. That was so sweet. Ed Harcourt - St James Church on The Beautiful Lie tour - stunning venue and fantastic support sets from Hush The Many and The Tiny, just a really great night. Ed is consistently great. Echo and The Bunnymen at the V Festival 2006? - It was a really personal moment for me because I'd never got to go to gigs in my teens as my parents were so strict so seeing a band I'd loved and missed out on for the first time just bought that all back. I might even have shed a tear or two for the 15 year old inside me..can't remember much about the set but i'll never forget how i was feeling... vs Hush The Many - Kentish Town, - A band I saw many, many times - just beautiful and incandescent live - this was a great gig, great crowd and everything hung around for ages afterwards to chat and mingle. Lovely.
  9. Hope you don't mind sparing a sec to read this. I've never been a fan of anything that relied on page views, votes etc, but I couldn't resist giving this a shot. You don't have to sign your life away to anything, you just have to click on this link and view my little spiel about how I ran away to the Maldives : ) It's a competition I've entered : ) On July 9th, the Top 50 get through to some judges pontificating after that about what travel tip they believed was best. I don't use Twitter, but if you do, I would be most obliged if you could tweet it and ask your friends to retweet it to spread the word or if you could ask any friends to, too. I know Twitter for word of mouth stuff is awesome : ) Please note I never normally ask this kind of stuff of anyone as I get very shy about asking favours for myself. http://www.travelzoo.com/uk/savvytraveller...le/?id=14421056 Thank you Yasmin x P.S I'm not some random spammer hijacking the site, and I hope I posted this in the right section as I hate spam!! I'm just asking for a bit of help here. I've written pieces on Cat Power, Twisted Folk and Arrows of Love
