Motley Crue / Alice Cooper

SSE Arena, London on Fri 6th Nov 2015

After enjoying 35 years of success, and selling over 100 million records Motley Crue announced their farewell tour back in June. Whilst other bands quite often say that this will be their last ever tour only to re-emerge once the coppers have been spent, Motley Crue have signed an agreement banning them from ever re-forming. This was their last ever show in the UK.

The support is an arena filler himself, the mighty Alice Cooper. 67 years old and still shocking the crowds with his vast back catalogue. He is one of rock’s greatest showmen and warms the crowd up nicely.

When Motley grace the stage we are greeted by what can only be described by an inside fair ground. Dry ice, Fireworks, fire throwers and flashing images amaze the crowd. There is a distinct nod to the eighties with backing singers in leather leotards and it’s like time never moved on. Tommy Lee beats fireworks out of his drum, Nikki Sixx torches a dream catcher whilst Vince Neil took the lead vocals. The punters seem to enjoy themselves, taking in what could be the last time they see their idols perform.

There are some strange moments; there is a satan inspired section in which the band set light to everything whilst performing 'Shout At The Devil', 'Louder Than Hell' and a cover of 'Anarchy in the UK' with stage invaders firing water rifles into the crowd.

One of the biggest spectacles of the night is Tommy Lee flying over the audience on an upside down roller-coaster whilst doing a drum solo. Prior to this Sixx and Neil stand on cranes that spit fire and tape. The band certainly keeps you guessing with what they could possibly come up with next to shock you.

All in all a fitting closure to the bands 35 year old run. However the agreement that I mentioned earlier? There is indeed a get out clause.
