Mallory Knox are a five-piece alternative rock band from Cambridge. A couple of years ago, 2013 to be exact, they released their debut album 'Signals'' which reached No 33 in the UK album charts. Their second album 'Asymmetry' was released in October 2014 and reached No 16 on UK Album Chart.
During the summer of 2015, Mallory Knox played every date of the Vans Warped Tour, and played a slot at Download Festival, which in essence is amazing considering the band haven't really been around that long. They announced a ten date homecoming headline tour for September and October with support from Set It Off and The Xcerts, including the bands biggest ever headline show at London's Roundhouse.
Tonight is a big thing for me, I've waited two years to see this band in the live arena and with the help of Radio One and Fearne Cotton, and their recent airplay of the bands tracks from 'Asymmetry', it's made me chomp at the bit.
With a 16 song set to look forward I was in the starting blocks for the show and after looking at the videos the band had posted on Facebook as taster sessions it looked epic. I was raring to go.
The band have come a long way in the short time they've been around, these are the biggest venues they've played under their own steam. Tonight was hot, sweaty, sticky and like being in a sardine can how packed the room was, BUT it was all about the music, that's all that's important. With their MK emblem lite up on the stage and with a few pyrotechnics thrown in for good measure throughout the show, the music just said it all.
The set started off with the song that made me wanna go see Mallory live, 'Shout at the Moon', I have this track on constant replay in my car, epic track and well worth the ticket price alone. (My favourite track anyways lol)
'Asymmetry' tracks 'Getaway', 'Dying to Survive', 'When Are We Waking Up?', 'Heart and Desire', 'Glimmer', 'Lonely Hours', with tracks from the band's debut album 'Signals' making up the numbers.
The encore was amazeballs and included tracks 'She Took Him To The Lake',' Oceans' and 'Lighthouse'.
Mikey Chapman's vocals make me wanna listen to the band even more, they're mesmerising and I just can't get enough, I need more Mallory Knox in my life.
This is the first time I've seen Mallory Knox and it won't be the last time I've seen them, believe me, when is the next tour?
