Steve Steinman's Meat Loaf Trilogy Show

Royal Concert Hall (Nottingham) on Wed 20th Jun 2007

Steve Steinman (vocalist) returned to Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall with an all new act dedicated to bringing the music of Meat Loaf alive.

In recent years Steve and his entourage of highly skilled musicians have toured up and down the country with their Meat Loaf show, however this show incorporates songs from Bat Out Of Hell 1,2, and 3. So it’s no coincidence that this tour is called the Meat Loaf Trilogy.

Not only are there more songs to play around with, Mr Steinman scrapped the wigs and make-up and just relied on his voice to entertain the fans. Also this time around the use of projection screens were a nice touch at the start of the show, it built up an air of excitement to really get everyone in the mood for a Meat feast.

There is no denying that Steve can impersonate Meat Loaf incredibly well, and his unique stage presence and at times his sense of humour make this show a very memorable one.

Even though Steve is the frontman and it is his responsibility to make it work, the show really wouldn’t work with out his backing vocalist Shereen Webb and Emily Clark who both had voices that enhanced the songs and not only were their vocals enjoyable to listen to, they were certainly a lot more pleasing on the eye than Steve. The remaining band members all contributed to the show equally, with the guitarists Maria Garner and Jordan Bracewell belting out the supersonic solos with more precision than a laser guided missile.

Emily had a chance to demonstrate her vocal skills to the full whilst performing ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me Now’, and impressed the crowd with her superb vocal range.

With Steve having been impersonating Meat Loaf for way too many years now, it goes without saying that he is able to pull off all of the power ballads and stadium anthems that Meat Loaf has done in the past with such ease that you could be forgiven for at times genuinely thinking you was listening to Meat Loaf.

Every possible hit you could think of was included in this show including ‘Paradise By The Dashboard Light’, ‘I’d Do Anything For Love’, ‘Deadringer For Love’, and obviously the granddaddy of all rock anthems ‘Bat Out Of Hell’.

This is one of those shows that demonstrate that a tribute act can be entertaining and extremely talented and provide enough excitement to make you want to go back and see them again next time they tour.
