Coldplay plan one off Knebworth gig

singer Martin reveals on Radio 1

news: Friday 17th October 2008

Rock pop band Coldplay let slip that they are planning a one-off gig in the grounds of Knebworth House in Hertfordshire.

Singer Chris Martin revealed the news exclusively on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show last night.

No details of the gig have been confirmed, Martin revealed, "We're trying to book a place that rhymes with Blebworth. We realised there's a lot of people who don't like us in Britain but, you know, they don't have to come."

The frontman added that it would not be a run of nightly performances, saying, "We're not gonna do three, Robbie did three. We'd be happy with one. Then the next day can be some kind of caravan conference."

In 2003, Robbie Williams performed at Knebworth over a three day period, drawing crowds of over 375,000. This has been cited as the biggest UK pop concert ever and caused a huge traffic jam when an estimated 130,000 cars tried to reach the venue.
