Robert Plant agrees to join Led Zeppelin on tour

after band have try outs with other frontmen

news: Friday 26th September 2008

Led Zeppelin are, according to The Sun newspaper (here), about to embark on a reunion tour next summer after their singer Robert Plant finally agreed to join them.

The band consisting of guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones, and drummer Jason Bonham have been rehearsing with stand-in vocalists whilst rehearsing in West London's Ritz Studio.

Plant had refused to take part in any practice sessions as he is currently committed to his side project with country singer Alison Krauss. However, after it was reported in the press earlier in the week that one American singer had been so impressive that the band were confident they could hit the road next year without Plant, it seems he has done a u-turn.

The newspaper says that it was this news what finally persuaded Robert Plant to return. A source reveals to The Sun,
"The rest of the band had all but given up on Robert joining them, but they were determined to go ahead so had started to seriously explore other avenues. When Robert realised the band were serious about doing it without him, it made him think long and hard. He realised he couldn't face the thought of not being involved. The band were over the moon when he told them the news. They are now forging ahead with the tour plans and they can't wait to get on the road."
The tour, is according to the article all set for next summer, and follows the massive success of their one-off reunion show at London's O2 Arena in December.
