last chance to see The Police

Sting and co to call it a day

news: Wednesday 13th February 2008

billboard are reporting (here) that legendary rock trio The Police will turn off the tour light for good when they complete the August leg of their live shows.

During their career the group managed to amass together five number 1 albums, a succession of top 10 singles and received six Grammy Awards.

The article states, 'The Police will take one more victory lap through North America on their massively successful reunion tour before calling it quits for good, sources close to the tour tell Billboard.com.'

Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland are set to play the last 50 or so dates until August, including some European dates which include the Isle of Wight festival and Hyde Park, which could be, if the news is correct, the last time the band plays together as the Police in the UK.

It's certainly been a money earning reunion, as the tour which locations include New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Macau, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Poland and Brazil, as well as the UK and America, is likely to gross around £173 million! That will make this tour one of the top five highest-grossing tours of all time.
