Portishead announce UK tour dates

and the new album released at last

Portishead have announced live dates for 2008, after nearly a decade of hibernation.

The band, who have been on an indefinite break since the late nineties, playing most recently at the tsunami Bristol benefit in 2005, All Tomorrow's Parties' Nightmare Before Christmas 2007, and a home-coming show at the Bristol Academy last year.

At last, they've announced a European tour in early April, which includes the following dates in the UK.

Wed 9th April Manchester, Apollo
Thu 10th April London, Hammersmith Apollo
Sat 12th April Edinburgh, Corn Exchange
Sun 13th April Wolverhampton, Civic

The tour will coincide with the release of Portishead's new album, which will be be released on the Monday 14th April. Despite promises of this album for several years, this is finally, the first time an absolute date has been given for it. Tickets for the gigs go on sale on Friday.
