Duke Special kicks off new UK tour with a secret Swindon show

The 12 Bars, SwindonBuilding on his recent successful support slot with the Divine Comedy, Duke Special kicked off his headlining tour with a secret gig last night at Swindon’s newest music venue, the 12 Bar, which was well received by the excited crowd.

Duke was joined by the exceptional Chip Bailey on percussion, regular member Paul Wilkinson (of the Amazing Pilots) on guitar and new recruit Ivo Neame, on saxophone and clarinet. These will be the band members on the new tour which starts with two dates in Europe (including the Eurosonic Festival). The full UK tour begins on 6th February in Liverpool and runs through to 22nd February in Oxford, they visit Belfast on 28th February, followed by the rest of Ireland and Europe throughout March.

Support on all of the UK dates will be provided by Stephanie Dosen from Wisconsin, USA, who has been compared to Sinead O’Connor and Joni Mitchell and has recently collaborated with Simon Raymonde, formerly of the Cocteau Twins.

Duke Special’s profile will be further heightened next week when his new single, ‘Freewheel’, which is due to be released on 5th February, is “record of the week” on Radio 2.
