Axl bites back

Guns N' Roses front man arrested

news: Tuesday 27th June 2006

After 10 years of champing at the bit over ‘Chinese Democracy’, the new album costing the band thirteen million dollars (and rising) Gun’s N’ Roses front man Axl Rose may have finally bitten off more than he can chew.

The lead singer of the late 80’s/early 90’s has-beens was arrested in the early hours of this morning after allegedly biting the leg of a security guard during a fight at the Berns Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden.

Although it’s unclear exactly what caused the fight Swedish tabloids are reporting that it all kicked off during an argument between an apparently inebriated Rose and a woman at the bar. When security tried to intervene a fight ensued and the 44 year old rocker had to be handcuffed and restrained, not without breaking a hotel mirror in the process. If that’s not bad enough luck Rose could be charged with violent conduct and could face up to four years in prison, according to a police spokesman.

The incident followed a gig at Stockholm's Globe Arena, part of Guns N’ Roses world tour in which they play eight UK dates, including London’s Wembley Arena.

A few hours prior to the incident Rose was reportedly seen surrounded by a flock of leather bound blonde women, whilst parting at the Café Opera. Apparently this was part of a request the band had made to the local media before the show.

Rose was considered too drunk to talk when he was detained and was being held in a cell until sober enough for questioning. A spokesperson for EMA (Guns N’Roses’ Swedish promoter) said that the situation would likely be resolved in time for the bands next show on Wednesday 27th June in Oslo, Norway.

Despite Guns N’ Roses occasional touring, and not releasing barely anything but a greatest hits album in the last 10 years Axl has managed to rope in 20 different band members to join his party. That’s almost one new band member per single. Ahh well, at least he’s doing something with that thirteen million...
