The Lucky Nine

Rock City, Nottingham on Mon 7th Nov 2005

The Lucky Nine are a five-piece featuring bassist Daniel P Carter, Hundred Reasons frontman Colin Doran, and Cable drummer Richie Mills.

So there is no question about their talent as they have all been in previously successful bands (and still are). However it doesn’t matter how impressive they look on paper, can they cut it live? In short.. Yes, without a doubt!

They have only released one album - True Crown Foundation Songs - and so it was obvious that the setlist was going to consist of tracks just from that seeing as they would never be so tacky as to cover their former bands songs unlike certain other groups such as Audioslave (who quite often like to include songs from Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine in their setlist!)

The Lucky Nine's set was energetic, vibrant and best of all just rammed full of good out and out rock songs. It was an absolute pleasure watching a band trying to resurrect rock music and bring it back into the limelight, with their fusing, pulverising noise and keen sense of dynamics and emotional intensity.

The Lucky Nine are certainly worth catching live - if you like rock music then you cant fail to be impressed with these!
