The Ga Ga's

Rock City, Nottingham on Thu 10th Mar 2005

The last time that we caught The Ga Ga's at Rock City was well over a year ago, and even back then we loved them to bits. And after seeing them again, they are still superb live.

The Ga Ga's managed to fill Rock City so that it was bustling with life, and over the past year they have become ultra cool, sure the coverage from a certain music magazine has certainly enhanced their popularity, but it is deservedly so.

Vocalist Tommy Gleeson, arrived on stage wearing a black cap, and dark shades, which on any other person would have made them look silly, but with The GA GA's these little details make them look cool. Once the cap and glasses came off they revealed a long haired singer wearing lots of eye liner, almost Brian Molko-esque!

Their stage show is vibrant, and energetic with Tommy doing all sorts of wonderful stage antics such as walking along the bar whilst playing wild guitar solos to the annoyance of the bar staff.

The disappointing thing about this show was that musically it is still 'Breaking America' and 'Sex' which really whips the crowd into a moshing frenzy. But that really is not too much of a problem.

Definitely a cool band, and superb to watch live, if I was a betting man, I would place a lot of money on these playing bigger venues by this time next year.
