Don't get me wrong, I love living in Manchester but when stuff like this goes on in London it makes me jealous.

The Tears, The Dead 60s and Nine Black Alps all on together?

B-A-S-T-A-R-D-S-!

sheffields great and all.

but i don't think it gets anywhere near as much musical recognition as it deserves.

its the 4th largest city in the UK ffs.

still, it kicks whitby's arse (chumbawamba, slade - without noddy holder)

Sheffield obviously inspired many of the great anthems of the mid 90s courtesy of Pulp, so it's alright in my book.
Mind you, people go on about how London gets all the good events and big bands / one off shows etc etc....but when a band tours, the London date is nearly always more expensive than the same bill in a different area of the country blink.gif

manchesters music scene has died, try the leeds scene its banging at the mo (kaiser chiefs, 10,000 things, the music)

Leeds looks like being the big scene in 2005.

Sheffield always seems to get missed off on UK tours - especially those with 6/7 dates - they'll usually hit Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham, and because Sheff's in the middle, it gets missed.

Although the uni Fuzz Club can be very good - ie The Bees for £3.50 when every other date on their tour was £9.

fuzz club rules nonetheless, but you get a decent band for no extra cost. fantastic.

Hallam gets bugger all gig wise dry.gif

Leeds has this amazing local gig scene, its just bursting at the seams at the moment, but there is no big venue which means that all the massive bands miss us out!!!
untill they build that place near the calls area thingy armouries area that is!

not as bad as living in Aberdeen, most tours dont go past Glasgow or Edinburgh! Get the odd good band but most of the time ots folk like Elton John blink.gif woohoo! huh.gif

Wrexham gets a fair few bands passing through though as does bangor. and you have that festival happening in the summer.

I suppose its part of our nature to compare unfavourably with others..........
However much as Wrexham and Bangor do have bands passing through and yes, we also have the
"joy" of Wakestock not to forgrt Gwyl Dolgellau - Y sessiwn Fawr! it's still very much a dessert
