Rumour is this great great pub which has played host to many fine bands (including Pronghorn for the Glastonbury faithful) has carked it. As I'm not in Bournemouth I can't tell for sure, anybody confirm or hopefully deny this?

No its all fine. Gigs are going on upstairs apparently and downstairs is being/has been done up. Lamma ( from Pronghorn) is running the band side of things here and at several other venues across Bournemouth - goto Pronghorns website to be able to contact him - expect to see the likes of Pronghorn, The Highliners, Farcue etc before Xmas(although I think the Highliners has just been)

Alas this is now no longer the case as the music from upstairs was disturbing the wine sipping types downstairs.

Ok heres the truth,

All live music is still going on, Lamma no longer does anything with the Gander, The gander was to be closed down however our promotions company saved it (www.bb-promotions.co.uk). We've run gigs there for the last year and there are always good things going on, recently we are moving onto larger things and Chalk Inc Promotions have taken our place and are doing a lot.
