It can be quite crazy when young people class obvious metal bands as emo though. Sometimes it might just be that they think the lyrics are 'emo'.

I've been that way ........ since 1984
4th grade.... wow
I think it was Hüsker Dü........ who knows...... my music comes from my mom
She's a dream..... I remember Pink Floyd, Ziggy Stardust, The New York Dolls, Saxon, Kiss (could go on 4 days)..... and then it was silent
Jesus Freaks.......... but it happened..... she made sure.....piano, woodwinds, organ......... and finally a guitar in 1987
Emo?
Every band has an 'emo' song.....
Does it make you cry or feel like 'you'?......... duh
So it's emotional to you to hear 'that song'?
Good dumbass!!!........................................ Start your own band!!!
If your music moves you ............. it's probably 'emo'. Who really cares if a band is 'emo'.......... just listen and stop trying to put our feelings into a 'box' that we can't open. I hear songs from GnR, Megadeth, Loverboy, etc. that could be 'emo'...... yeah sit on it.... I got more..... uhhhhhhhhh? Bryan Adams?
Emo?
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Do your homework and you will see that we are ALL EMO!!!!!

I wouldn't say every band has an emo song because emo doesn't just mean emotional. If you claim "emo" meant "emotional" it then becomes an all encompassing word. It becomes extremely vague and it has no limit as to what it can describe.

dont ever put punk with emo, emo is for slit the wrists faggots who cry while punk is awesome, mostly street punk and old school!!!
Hey,not all emos cut ok?I'm emo,and one of my friends is too...but she's the one that cuts, not me.And we don't cry 24/7. I agree that punk is awsome, but you got the wrong idea of emo. Emo is short for emotionaly HARDCORE.Or just short for emotional,or emotionally unstable. It all depends...it can be all of em too.

We don't look like plebs,or act like them.we dress and act like normal pple too ya know. we all put on our shoes one at a time. And we aren't depressed for attention. Everyone has problems in there life sometime right? My problem with emo is that stereotypical emo's tend to be annoying, look like plebs, dress like plebs, act like plebs, most of them are depressed, which they put on for attention. I dont like emo music, cause people scream in it too much, and the songs arent exactly upbeat.
And if you think funeral for a friend are dedicated you can thing again, absoloute twats when I bumped into them, fames gone right to their heads.

Personally I hate people that bag other people from their whatever 'clique' 'stereotyping' Its annoying and not very fair on that person. 'Emo' is just how some people deal with things and the way that they want to be. Bagging people because of rumours, what they wear or even how they act, has never been nice. Ever.
And for the record. Not all 'emo's' Cut. :\ That is annoying thing people say all the fucking time. They dont all cut. Pschhhhh...
Its realy dissapointing that people actually have gotten so low that they feel the need to bag people that are different.
And like... 'Emo' I mean come on. 'Emo' people are the coolest people ever.
I am calling them 'Emo'
I think I am being hipocritical...
Hmm

Maybe I am not in with the current emo scene so much at the moment, but there don't seem to have been many defining emo's bands recently.
Can anyone think of any decent bands that can be classed as emo that have formed recently?
