March/April @ The Georgian Theatre

Recommended Posts

Here's whats coming up in the next few months at the Georgian:

EXIT BY NAME + FACE THE UNKNOWN + THE WHITE BEAR EXPERIMENT

Saturday 13th March

Doors 8pm £3.50adv / £5 door

Meaty, beaty, big and bouncy, Exit by Name’s set is full of skull-crunching power-anthems. Their songs are rhythmic, melodic and tighter than Simon Cowell’s belt. They have some pedigree too having played with Lost Prophets and Biffy Clyro.

LOOSELY ACOUSTIC - RUSSELL & THE WOLVES + MARK BODEN + SAMANTHA DURNAN

Friday 19th March

Doors 8pm £3.50adv / £5door

Surf rocking and blues tinged Russell & The Wolves have been described as sounding like Jesus and the Mary Chain meets The White Stripes. They have shared the stage with acts as diverse as Hatcham Social and Bob Log III. Currently promoting their five track EP Vroom-A-No-No, this is acoustic rockabilly at its best!

COMMITTED

Friday 26th March

Doors 8pm, £3, 18+ Alt Club

Expect the very best in rock/goth/alt and cyber tunes from the people who bring you Asylum.

YOUNG REBEL SET (SINGLE LAUNCH) + EMIL FRIIS

Saturday 27th March

8pm £5adv / £7door

A very special night for the (‘spit and sawdust band’) Young Rebel Set, with the launch of their new single Walk On. Very much a story telling band of the same ilk as Bob Dylan and The Pogues, they return to Stockton from their European tour and will have you clapping your hands and stamping your feet. Denmark-based Emil Fris also lands here before embarking on a small tour of the States taking with him laid back songs of broken heart and bitter tales. If Country/blues is your thang, then this is for you…oh yes!

LOOSELY ACOUSTIC - HENRY PRIESTMAN (EX THE CHRISTIANS) + CATTLE AND CANE + SARAH PROCTOR

Friday 9th April

Doors 8pm £3.50adv / £5door

Founder member and main song writer for The Christians, who sold over 3 million albums in the 80's/90's. Henry's band The Yachts supported The Sex Pistols in the 70's. In September 2008, Henry released a solo album entitled The Chronicles of Modern Life to much critical acclaim. Henry is a great live act and a top guy. Get your tickets early for this one! Support from Cattle and Cane - fantastic songs filled with heartfelt passion and emotion (demo bowled us over - if Stephen Fretwell had joined the Cranberries!)

KING CREOSOTE + THE WOVEN PROJECT

Saturday 17th April

Doors 8pm £7adv / £9door

Legendary Fence Collective founder returns to The Georgian following his fifth album Flick The Vs. All hail the King!

OUR SECRET SINS LIVE ALBUM LAUNCH + PRETTY HICKEYS

Friday 23rd April

Doors 8pm £3.50adv / £5 door

Our Secret Sins try to fit again on our stage to celebrate the release of their live album. Excellent swirling organ reminiscent of the 60’s and Syd Barrett but also of the 90’s and The Stone Roses and even a bit of Joy Division thrown in for good measure. Very cool. Taking a bow and first on stage are The Pretty Hickeys - post-punk and Ska-ish, they sound like The Buzzcocks and even The Sham 69 with their chanted choruses and sharp-eyed songs of modern life.

BASEMENT FOLK with SERIOUS SAM BARRETT + DAVID BROAD + RIBBON ROAD

Sunday 25th April

Doors 7.30pm £3.50adv / £5 door

A night of the finest underground folk music. Just back from touring the States Serious Sam “a man so talented he'll never be famous” brings his own style of the best traditional and original songs to The Georgian. Support comes from Sam’s partner in crime and equally as talented David Broad and Ribbon Road bringing their beautifully crafted songs and three-part harmonies back to Teesside.
